Find Your Serial Number

Mercury Outboard

For most Mercury outboards the serial number tag is located on the swivel bracket (port or starboard).  Or check the plate, located between the thumb screws above the steering tube. The top number on the plate is the serial number, and the number directly beneath it is the four-digit year of manufacture. For models 1999 & earlier, the Model Year Guide below can be used to find your serial number range if the year of outboard is known.

Mercruiser

Engine SN: The engine SN is located near the starter, by the flywheel housing or on the valve cover or flame arrestor.

Transom Plate: The SN is inside the boat or on the upper swivel pin.

Stern Drive: The SN is located on the upper driveshaft housing.
